- DELUXE PACKAGING IN SUPER JEWEL BOX, XANADU MASTER EDITION SERIES, Definitive Editions From The Classic Label, Supervised by Original Producer DON SCHLITTEN, Digitally-Remastered, 16-page Booklet with extensive Liner Notes.
Producer Don Schlitten conceived this session as a welcomehome for Dexter Gordon after his 14 year “escape” to jazz “enthusiastic” Europe. It documents a transformative moment both for Gordon’s career and for the jazz business. The True Blue-Silver Blue sessions were a jam session in the true sense of the word. A true example of cohesion interplay and soloistic adventurousness displayed by Gordon and his front-liners Al Cohn Blue Mitchell and Sam Noto. A master class on jam session aesthetics through their inspired instant composing.
