Wes Montgomery (1925-1968) is now widely recognized as one of the finest guitarists in jazz history. The 1957 album The Montgomery Brothers and 5 Others marked his recording debut as a leader. Prior to those sessions he had only worked and recorded with the band of Lionel Hampton (since 1948). Besides playing and recording with his brothers Wes made numerous recordings as a soloist with different groups an example of which is the present album The Wes Montgomery Trio which showcases him with organist Melvin Rhyne and drummer Paul Parker.
